I have been working as a visual artist since 2006 and travelled as a photographer for the Landscape Journals project between 2015 and 2019, while living in Switzerland and Lithuania.
Some results of my academic and artistic research are published in: A imagem contextualizada (Arquivo Fotográfico Municipal de Lisboa, 2023); Antologia de Ensaios, Compromissos com o Meio Ambiente: 50 anos da Conferência de Estocolmo (1972-2022) (DINÂMIA’CET-IUL, 2022); Dialogical arts sustainable through communities (Lapland, 2022); Artes & Leilões magazine (2010); Here as the center of the world (Archis Amsterdam, 2009); Creativity and Artistic Creation Program (Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, 2009) and Open Magazine (New York, 2006).
I exhibited individually at: Encontros da Primavera (Picote, 2024); Le Centre (Lausanne, 2015); Lisbon Municipal Photography Archive (Lisbon, 2009) and Galeria Caroline Pagès (Lisbon, 2011), and collectively at the Musée de L'Elysée (Lausanne, 2015); Galeria Sopro (Lisbon, 2010); Centro de Arte Moderna Azeredo Perdigão (Lisbon, 2008); Kunstvlaii 7 Art Fair (Amsterdam, 2008); the Stedelijk Museum (Leiden, 2006); Gasometer (Oberhausen, 2006) and Zico House (Beirut, 2006).
I’m the co-organizer of the conference Conversas sobre antropologia e arte no antropoceno, at CRIA (Lisbon, 2024), a member of the Centre for Research in Anthropology (CRIA), the Laboratory of Environmental Anthropology and Behavioural Ecology (LAE), the Royal Anthropology Institute (RAI) and European Association of Social Anthropologists.
I presented my work at: APARN 2024 - Art as Research: Methods for Synthetic Reasoning (Cyberjaya, Malaysia); Festival Imaterial (Évora 2024); III Encontro Internacional Lusófono Todas as Artes | Todos os Nomes (2023); AMASS conference, Dialogical arts through sustainable communities (University of Lapland 2022); XII International Congress Creators on other Works (Faculdade de Belas Artes de Lisboa 2022); III International Encuentro de Antropología Ambiental (Donostia-San Sebastián 2022) and National Ecology Meetings, of the Portuguese Society of Ecology (2020, 2021). I was granted an FCT Scholarship to attend the Summer School of the Center for Research in Anthropology (2020).
I hold an MA in anthropology, with an ethnographic study on the relationship between art and environment, and a master’s in art, where I researched the materiality of the photographic object, through a series of photographic installations.
Currently I am a PhD candidate in anthropology, researching clay figuration practice in Portugal, with a scholarship from the Foundation for Science and Technology.
Besides my academic training, I attended the Anthropology of Skill and Craftwork seminar (Royal Anthropological Institute, UK), Heritage Sciences Summer School (Cergy Paris University), Arts, Activisms and Memory course (Consejo Latinoamericano de Ciencias Sociales, Argentina), Programa Criatividade e Criação Artística (Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, Lisbon, PT) and the Dutch Art Institute (The Netherlands).
